  Dear Parents and Guardians:
  
  For those who are new to the parish, welcome! Greetings from the St. Bernard Parish sacramental team. Confirmation strengthens us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we can help the Church to grow. Pope Francis said, "If in Baptism it is the Holy Spirit who immerses us in Christ, then in Confirmation it is Christ who fills us with his Spirit, consecrating us as his witnesses, participants in the same principle of life and of mission, according to the design of the heavenly Father (General Audience, 23 May 2018)."
  
  Sacramental preparation will begin with an information meeting, followed by three sessions. Those unable to attend a session must arrange a makeup session with the Pastor. The date for Confirmation is to be determined.

  A $50.00 fee covers the costs associated with the sacraments, including copies of Alive in the Spirit and the Book of Saints. Children will complete these workbooks at home, and will choose a Confirmation name.
  
  Children must ordinarily have been baptized in the Roman Catholic Church to receive this sacrament. See the Pastor for more information. Please supply a copy of the child's Baptism certificate.
  
  Each child requires a sponsor for Confirmation who is a confirmed practicing Catholic at least 16 years old, preferably one of the child's godparents. The sponsor will support the parents and child as they prepare for full initiation into the Church. Neither of the child's parents can be the sponsor, and the sponsor does not have to be a relative. Please supply a copy of the sponsor's Confirmation certificate or a recent Baptism certificate showing their Confirmation.
