CWL Annual Report Year 2014

St Bernard CWL
is an active and vibrant part of the St. Bernard Parish Community. We are committed to helping the Parish carry out its mission statement. I am privileged to be the president of this wellestablished council. I intend to grow the council by continue the many traditions started by the previous presidents and having our membership engage in the National theme “Women of Peace and Hope Centered on Faith and Justice”.

Members take a leadership role and participate in all aspects of parish life; Pastoral care, RCIA, Finance Council, Pastoral Council, Sacramental preparation and parish social activities.

Our fund raising activities include, a plant sale, two bake sales, Apple Pie Sale, Fashion Show, and hosting funeral receptions.

Community life, we are discussing ways to increase our works of charity in the Community by volunteering as a group, and supporting the Development and Peace "Share Lent Champaign". We will continue activities to support the poor and elderly; such as the Christmas stocking for less fortunate children, and singing Christmas carols at St. Pats.

Education and Health, we are pleased to have a mother of two young children she will get her feet wet by assisting to coordinate some good work which was established by previous chairs by praying and teaching the Rosary to the children attending our 3 parish elementary schools and being involved in supporting the Children's Sacraments.

Spiritual development, spiritual activities will include praying the Stations of the cross on Fridays evening during Lent, praying the rosary before masses in May and October, the Crowing of Mary, and Advent Holy Hour.

Christian Family Life, our chair is a nurse and is intend to focus on the Sanity of Life aspect of that mandate. We got her of to an enthusiastic start, at our January 12th meeting by donation $250 to Action Life.

The members of our council are cohesive; working together comes easy as does playing together, recently our members enjoyed a social evening that included a sleigh ride and potluck. They are also dynamic and eager team with a goal of bringing the National theme “Women of Peace and Hope centered on Faith and Justice” to life in our parish.

We invite all catholic women to journey with us in a sisterhood of faith, fun and fulfillment. Come, join us.
